Olya Thompson was born in New York City of Ukrainian parents. She has a Master’s Degree in Comparative Literature from Indiana University and taught writing on the college level and worked as a newspaper columnist and essayist. Her interests include politics, expatriate European literature, the literary essay, journalism commentary, nonfiction prose writing, memoir, psychology and the short story.
